Kekurangan air atau dehidrasi dapat mengganggu metabolisme sel sehingga menyebabkan kerusakan sel, gangguan fungsi organ serta kematian.
Alam telah menyediakan sumber air yang memenuhi syarat sebagai cairan rehidrasi yang terdapat dalam air kelapa muda. Mitos air kelapa muda menyebabkan pegal-pegal bila diminum setelah berolahraga belum terbukti secara ilmiah.
